Daily face

I usually wear pretty much the same make up everyday with the odd item changing if I buy something new, the weather changes or I just fancy a change, with a few holy grail items staying the same !

I start off in the morning with my nivea express hydration cream this is one of my holy grails that I don’t think I do ever change, if you’ve read my previous post you will know I have dry/sensitive skin and this just keeps it hydrated throughout the whole day and also gives a good base for my foundation. I use this alongside my nivea express hydration primer, this has a really runny consistency to it which I like for my dry skin, it takes a while to dry which is a down side but all in all these 2 together I love as a base for my foundation.

The most important part!! My foundation. This is one of the products I normally change regularly as I’m always buying more or switching them up as the weather changes. Now that it’s getting warmer outside I use my 24hr Revlon colour stay foundation as it feel really light on my face so it doesn’t feel heavy and sweaty. This also has a full coverage so is a winner in my book! I apply this using real techniques expert face brush. This foundation was one of my ‘read a lot about’ buys and I am so impressed with it! Next I apply my collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer which is one of my holy grails, I never change this a it’s really thick and covers all my blemishes and dark circles under my eyes. I apply this using my eco tools concealer brush. Next I apply my Revlon photoready blusher This is one product that I always change up when I buy a new one as I’ve not yet found a perfect blusher for me. This is a cream blush so I apply using the tips of my fingers and then blend in using Barbara Daly’s kabuki brush. This blusher looks really bright in the little tub but really isn’t that pigmented which I like as it looks really bright. Next I apply my Benefit hoola bronzer I spent ages searching for a bronzer as I don’t like the shimmery ones, this has no shimmer in at all. Finally to finish my face I use Rimmel stay matte powder I buy this in translucent so I don’t need to mess around looking for a colour match.  I always use this as it keeps everything in place throughout the day and haven’t needed to shop around for a new powder. I apply this using Barbara Daly’s powder brush.

First onto my eyes I apply MUAs snow white eye liner just in the corners of my eyes to brighten them up, this is only £1! Another bargain from MUA and this stays on throughout the day and does what I want it to do. I then apply L’oreals colour appeal eyeshadow using the brush that came with it. I don’t like bright eye shadow and the shade I have in this is just enough to brighten my eyes a little but is good to go to work in. It stays on throughout the day and doesn’t crease. I finish of my eyes by using Boujours volume clubbing mascara in ultra black using my brush from Rimmels scandal eyes mascara. You may be wondering why I do this but there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation.  I love both of these mascara’s for 2 different reasons. I love my Rimmel one but unfortunately this has run dangerously low so I needed a new one.  I fancied a change and brought the Boujours one, sadly though I don’t like the brush to this one very much and it makes my lashes clumpy but I love the mascara so I use the Rimmel brush with the Boujours mascara and I have a perfect match!

I finish of my look with Maybelline new York’s 14hr stay lipstick this is a subtle colour when applied, so is suitable for work and it drys almost instantly and does stay on a long time, not 14hrs but I fortunately don’t work that many hours in a day so I don’t need it lasting anyway! This is not a matte lipstick but it can leave my lips feeling dry so I usually go over the top with my Rimmel vinyl lipgloss, this is pretty much a clear gloss, it goes really well over this lipstick and just gives it a little shine, my lips feel hydrated and now I’m pretty in pink and ready for work!

Do you wear any of this? What do you think? What would you like to be reviewed properly?

Sorry there are no links for my Barbra daly brushes as I can’t find them anywhere online apart from amazon/ebay, these were all purchased from Tesco for no more than around £5 each

What’s in my bag?

Over the weekend I decided to buy a new handbag and whilst I was sorting out the bits to put in my new purchase I realised it would be the perfect time to write a ‘What’s in my bag’ blog.

So here is my lovely new bag. I always tend to stick to simple black designs as I find these go nicely with every outfit. This one is quite large with a small pocket on the front with a gold zip. The other part I love about this bag is that it has small handles and a strap for if you want to carry it over your shoulder. This is so handy as I definitely over fill my bag and this can make it easier to carry. If any of you are wondering, this bag is from Primark for the bargain price of £12.

Let’s check out the inside!

I told you I over fill my bags !

I told you I over fill my bag!

I always have so much stuff in my bag that I like to use a handbag organiser to keep everything in its place. I got mine really cheap on eBay and they have them in lots of different colours. Its like a bag within a bag and makes its so much easier for me to find everything – although why I find the need to carry all this is beyond me!

Here we have:

– 2 hair brushes
– 2 pairs of gloves
– a pocket mirror
– one of those hair clip things
– my glasses
– some pain killers
– a cradle for my phone so I can use the sat nav feature in my car
– hand sanitiser
– hand cream
– 1 lipstick and 2 lip balms

You would think after all that, my bag would be full but alas! There is more …

I can not go anywhere without my Filofax! This is my bible and I live by it. Everything is in here from my dairy to all my contacts. I would be lost without this.  I must like the number 2 since I have 2 notebooks and 2 pens to go along with my 2 hair brushes and 2 pairs of gloves! I am not sure why I have 2, but the heart notebook is where I write all my ideas for the blog.

I got this little gizmo at Christmas and I must say this is THE BEST INVENTION EVER!! This is a Juice Cube and can be purchased for £20 online and comes in different colours for those of you who don’t like pink. The idea of this is to charge the pink cube (via a USB). Once this is charged you can use the multiple attachments to charge your phone. I was a little sceptical at first, but this can fully charge my phone in less than 30 mins and has been passed around the office in the past week.

Finally we have my purse. This is from Pauls Boutique and was another gift so I am unsure how much this cost. I am not going to show you the inside as it is full with my bank cards and ID badges for work but this purse has loads of room and space to hold things.

What’s in your bag? Want to see a review of any of the products here?

MUA collection haul

This brand has been popping up in alot of our posts, you have probably realised that we are both big fans of this brand.
This is a UK brand and can only be purchased online or in store at Superdrug.
Their products range from £1 to around £10, and for this price range no one can complain.
I had read a lot about this brand and already had a couple in my lipstick collection that I was a big fan of so I wanted more. Because I am such a big fan I thought I’d share with you my collection and what I think about each colour…

These lipsticks come in a very simple classic shape but have a really cool screw off bottom with added lip colour, not sure what this is there for, maybe to show the true colour without taking off the top? As other lipsticks only have a little sticker on the bottom. Either way I was pretty excited when I discovered that this screwed off! All these lipsticks go on smoothly ans effortlessly leaving your lips feeling soft, they have a good staying power for the price, and they all smell yummy!

From left to right
1. Shade Totally Nude – this one is one from the matte collection of MUAs lipsticks, I am not a big fan of this one, not because of the consistency or anything to do with the lipstick as a whole just because the shade is too dark for me. I have been hunting high and low for a nude shade that doesn’t look like I have foundation on my lips but unfortunately this wasn’t the right shade for me.

2. Bare shade 14 – as I said I have been hunting for a nude shade for a while and this was another nude one that I picked from MUA. this shade though has more of a pinky colour rather than a creamy brown foundation colour so this one is bearable, although it’s still not the perfect shade for me.

3. Shade 4. I am in love with this shade, I bought this when I became a bit more daring with deep colour lipsticks. Its a deep pinky/red colour and has a little bit of shimmer to it. This is not one of my everyday lipsticks but it is a popular one of mine.

4. Shade 3. I was feeling a little less daring with this one. This is a baby pink almost clear colour and hardly has any pigmentation, although I was disappointed because of this at first. I have found a use for it and normally use this as a lipgloss over another shade or use this for work as it is very subtle.

5. Shade 15, Juicy. Whilst on my quest to find a nude colour I’ve also been wanting to try out pinky/peachy shades ready for spring/summer, I saw one similar to what i wanted in this range so I thought I’d buy it to test out! And to see if I wanted darker or lighter, and since it was only £1 there was no second thoughts. As soon as I tried this it was the exact colour I was looking for, all ready for the Comeing summer months!

6. Shade 13. This one is bright red, I must of felt very daring buying this one. I have not yet worn this as I’ve not felt daring enough yet or even worn anything to match. I had to buy it because everyone has to have a red lipstick right?

7. Shade 2. Very much similar to no. 3 (shade 4) this has a shimmer to it and I love it, although this is dark, it’s not too over the top. This has been one of my favorite shades over the winter as I’ve been able to wear it with all of my dark jumpers.

Normal Lighting

Each one of these swatches was done using 3 strokes (similar to what you would use when apply to lips).

All in all I am very impressed with the pigmentation of these lipsticks, they leave the lips looking shiny and feeling soft and smooth. The matte one i have in this also applys very smothly and doesn’t feel grainy like other matte lipsticks I have tried.

I am very much looking forward to trying out the rest of the shades and more MUA products. And although the this matte shade wasn’t right for me I am definitely trying out the rest of the colours in the matte range.

What do you think of MUA? What’s your favorite shade? Whats your most daring shade?

Skin Care Routine

I have oily skin that is prone to breakouts. Although I don’t suffer as much with an oily t zone during the winter months , without a proper skin care routine my skin breaks out.

I spent years switching out my products and trying new ones I had seen on TV or read about, however this hasn’t been the case for some time now and I seem to have found the perfect combination for my skin. I have found that my skin doesn’t appreciate a lot of different products so my skin care routine is very basic.

skin care 1
I always start with Pampers Fragrance Free Baby Wipes to get my make up off. Now o would like to say this is only at night and that I take my make up off every night, but hey, I’m human and will occasionally sleep with my make up on. These are fab at taking this off and I like to keep them fragrance free to stop irritation on my eyes.

Cleanse and Tone …

skin care 2

Soap and Glory 3 in 1 wash-off deep purifying cleanser – £8 & No7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Brush – £19.99

I use this with my No7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Brush to get a deep clean on my face following a good nights sleep. I have only been using this for a few weeks and the difference in my skin is amazing!

Nivea Micellar Water - £3.99 & Simple Kind To Skin Purifying Cleansing Lotion - £2.99 & Simple Kind To Skin Soothing Toner - £2.99

Nivea Micellar Water – £3.99 & Simple Kind To Skin Purifying Cleansing Lotion – £2.99 & Simple Kind To Skin Soothing Toner – £2.99

After hearing all the buzz recently I have added Nivea Micellar Water  to my routine. This stuff is a fab! Even after I’ve thought I’ve taken my make up off, this finds more to remove. I couldn’t live without it now. I have been using simple cleanser and toner for years and I love them. I can’t fault these products especially for the price of them.

Moisturise …

Garnier Moisture Match Shine Be Gone - £5.99 & Sudocream 125mg - £2.59 & Along Came Betty Eye Me Up £5.49

Garnier Moisture Match Shine Be Gone – £5.99 & Sudocream 125mg – £2.59 & Along Came Betty Eye Me Up £5.49

Now I use 2 different moisturiser for the morning and night time. During the day I like to use a light moisturiser and the one I reach for currently is Garnier Moisture Match Shine Be Gone. I can not rave about this product enough and it does a fantastic job of keeping me oil free all day long.

At night I like to have something that really nourishes my skin and leaves it feeling smooth in the morning. I have found nothing better than good old Sudocream. I told you my skin care is basic!! I have to say I never really thought about using this until I saw it on TOWIE and thought what’s the harm? I will tell you something, I have never been so grateful for the tip that Chloe Sims gave to use Sudocream as the stuff is a god send! Just like with the No 7 brush, my skin has never felt so good and I can notice a huge difference if I miss out this step.
I also like to use Along Came Betty Eye Me Up at night. I’m not sure if this really does reduce dark circles and puffiness but it is certainly cooling to my eye area and feels refreshing.

Deep Clean …

Soap and Glory No Cloggs Allowed Super Self-Heating Deep Pore Detox Mask - £11 & Along Came Polly Detox Mask Pure Pores - £5.49

Soap and Glory No Cloggs Allowed Super Self-Heating Deep Pore Detox Mask – £11 & Along Came Polly Detox Mask Pure Pores – £5.49

If I am having major problems with my skin or fancy a bit of pamper time I have two go to face masks. Soap and Glory No Cloggs Allowed Super Self-Heating Deep Pore Detox Mask (I have old packaging) and Along Came Polly Detox Mask Pure Pores. I love both of these for a real deep down clean but definitely find them too harsh to use on a daily basis.

What’s your skin care routine? What are your go to products? Anything you would like to see a review for?

Liebster Award Nomination and Our Nominees

We have only just started blogging and getting into the swing of things with our blog so when we received a comment from Starr Sparkles on one of our posts nominating us we were excited and honoured to say the least. 1. Because this is new to us and someone has actually read one of our posts 😮 and 2. Because I got to read some of the fab info that Starr Sparkles has on her blog. Why not visit her blog by clicking on the link above.

The Liebster Award acknowledges up-and-coming bloggers with less than 200 followers and is a great way for all of us to get to know each other a little more! The rules for participating are as follows:

Acknowledge the blogger who nominated you.
Answer 11 questions your nominator asked.
Nominate 10 bloggers (w/ less than 200 followers) that you feel deserve recognition!
Inform the above bloggers that you have nominated them.
Post 11 questions for them to answer.

Questions we were asked.

1. What is you holy grail makeup product?
I could not live without my collection concealer, I use this for highlighting and covering up blemishes!

2. Favorite Lipstick of all time?
My favorite lipstick would have to be Rimmels moisture renew in shade Oxford Street Fushia. I’ve not really experimented that much with lipsticks but this is my favorite so far!

3. If you could only use one make-up brand what would it be?
This would have to be Rimmel as I have a lot of Rimmel products and have no complaints with them so far!

4. What is your most purchased make-up item?
Foundation, there’s not a particular one I keep buying but at the moment I’m experimenting on trying to find the right one for me. My favorite so far is Maxfactor facefinity 3 in 1 and most likely will buy this again.

5.  Which of your makeup brushes could you not live without?
Flat foundation brush from Barbara Daly. I have a full collection of her brushes but this one is by far the best. I always end up goin back to use this after trying others out.

6. Falsies or no? Individual or Strip?
I don’t usually wear falsies as I can never get them to stay on! Maybe I will have to experiment with this too. If I was to wear them I would definatley go for the strip as individual ones are way too fiddly for my liking!

7. What store do you purchase most of from?
BOOTS! I love this store, it’s mine and Shelleys second home!

8. What is your favorite moisturizer?
This has to be Nivea express hydration cream, I have really sensitive and dry skin, this has a thick texture and has no perfume to irritate my skin. Could not live without this in my skin care regime.

9. Favorite Make-up remover?
This is a mix between Soap and glorys peaches and clean 3in1 and B. Superdrugs own brand of Micellar water. Since iv discovered these I can’t live without them!

10. What is your favorite thing to talk about on your blog?
Beauty!! We love make up and beauty products and it’s all we seem to talk about so why not put it on a blog and share with everyone our beauty tips!

Our nominations are…
Rachel Cathenne Read
Glitter Pots and Lipgloss
A Clothes Look
A Blushing Brunette
Vickis Beauty
Beauty by Sarah Marie
Veive May
Florida Fashion Babes

Here are our 10 questions to our nominees named above…
1. What’s your favorite part of your make up routine?
2. If you had to choose one drug store or budget brand which one would it be?

Save or Splurge: Urban Decay Vs MUA

If you are from the UK then you will have heard of the make up brand MUA and if not, it is drug store brand that starts from just £1 per item. Over the past few years/months MUA has been going from strength to strength and I have heard great things about how their Undressed and Undress Me Too palettes are dupes for the urban decay naked palettes. I am a huge fan of Naked 1 & 2 and thought I had to check this out, who wouldn’t want a version of this fantastic neutral palette for a fraction of the price?

mua naked

The MUA palettes both retail at £4 and can be found at Superdrug stores. This already makes them a winner in my eyes compared to the £37 per palette for Urban Decay. You can see the difference in cost with the packaging, with the Naked palettes being in sleek packaging with large mirrors and brushes compared to the simple plastic design of the MUA that come with a double ended applicator. Find links and add in here

mua swatch naked swatch

Swacthes without flash. Left MUA and right Naked.

I reach for my Naked 1 palette time and time again so decided to use this one to swatch and compare to MUA – I must admit I am impressed! The MUA eyeshadows felt as smooth as its more expensive counterpart and have great pigmentation, although not quite as opaque as the Naked palette.

After seeing how brilliantly the MUA palette held its own against the Naked Palette in the swatch test I was curious to see the results when used in a make up look. I created a simple smokey eye look to test out for the day. On one eye I used MUA and the other Urban Decay, if they truly are a dupe for each other then I shouldn’t see a difference.

Heres the result …

Left Urban Decay, right MUA.

Left Urban Decay, right MUA.

Both palettes applied smoothly and blended out into each other with ease to create the above look. I wore this for a whole day and was very happy with both eyes neither smudged or creased and stayed looking seamless all day.

My overall thoughts:
MUA get a big 10/10 from me. Although the swatch test wasn’t an exact colour match, I was really impressed with the match when I applied it to my eye. If you have been struggling to save for yhe Urban Decay palette or cant justify the cost, then I would definitely recommend heading to your nearest Superdrug store to get your hands on the MUA palettes.

Have  you got any MUA products? What do you think of them? Any dupes you would recommend to try?
